When people ask me about my favorite moments from Little House on the Prairie, I usually smile — because the truth is, there are too many to count. But there’s one episode from Season 1 that’s never left me. I’m not going to tell you which one just yet… but I will say this: it’s a story about finding your voice, navigating new experiences, and discovering where you belong.

It’s about stepping into a place that feels unfamiliar and learning — sometimes the hard way — that kindness, courage, and connection can change everything. It’s full of those little details that made stepping into Laura’s shoes so real for me — from learning how to braid my hair in seconds flat, to figuring out how to lace up my boots with a metal hook, just like women did in the 1800s.

We’ll be gathering soon for a Modern Prairie Behind-the-Episode Exclusive to revisit this special episode together. I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes memories — some funny, some heartfelt — and talking about what this story has meant to me over the years, and why its themes of community, resilience, and self-discovery still speak so strongly to me (and to what we’re building here at Modern Prairie).
We'll also be dressing up in our Prairie best! If you'd like to go all out with us, bonnets and all, explore our Little House Lover's Collection! Order soon, so you get it on time!
We can’t wait to spend a special evening with you — reliving this beloved story, sharing other treasured moments from the set, and reflecting on why these tales still mean so much today.
I’m so excited to share more in the weeks ahead. For now, I’ll leave you with this question: when you think of Season 1, what moments have stayed with you?
HERE is a link to the event :)
With love,
Melissa 💛

I love and watch LHOTP everyday! My favorite is when Laura and Mary help their Pa stack the sacks after he fell out of a tree and was going to lose the oxen. A close second was when Mr. Edward surprised the family at Christmas and Ma took kindly to Mr Edward.
Now I have to get season 1 to binge watch the whole season. Best look first, I might already have it. I know I have the pilot on DVD.
How fun! What a great idea. I would love to join!
There are so many great episodes in season 1. We watch together (hubby and 17 year old daughter) at 9pm every night. We go through each season in order to the end then wrap back to the beginning. Id say Country Girls, Harvest of Friends and Mas Holiday are my personal favourites. I’d love to come to your watch party. how do I sign up? Melissa
I watch the show almost daily.
